The manufacturing plant Gulfstream Aerospace located in Savannah produced the 200th Jet in series G500/G550 recently. Now the plane should take finishing works and painting on the Gulfstream’s final assembly line in Long Beach (California).
Joe Lombardo, president of the company Gulfstream, said, "Production of this jet is the important landmark for our company. For less than 5 years we assembled 200 aircraft G550/G500. This event shows the popularity of these planes on the business aviation market".
In 2003The Robert J. Collier Trophy by the National Aeronautic Association was awarded to the team of engineers designed Gulfstream G500/G550 for the outstanding contribution into the aerospace industry. The Robert J. Collier Trophy is the most prestigious award in this field in the USA.
At the present time the flying stock of the jets G550/G500 in operation includes 172 aircraft which have the error-free running time of 99.87%. Besides that G550 set about 40 speed records. G550 was the first civil airplane received the FAA certificate, and included EVS (the enhanced vision system) as the standard equipment.
In addition G550 was the first airplane equipped with the PlaneView® cabin including the display system and the integrated set of board equipment Honeywell Primus Epic. The flight endurance of the jets G550 and G500 in the fleet reached 200.000 hours lately.
