The Elsie Beaded Leather Clutch by Chloé is one of those beautiful bags that just doesn’t get a fair rap in photos. Bright enough to rival the shimmer of gems and crystals this pretty clutch is covered on the front by gleaming gold beads in various sizes for a three dimensional, effervescent effect that looks a little like champagne in sculpture form. The look is interrupted only by the unique twist-lock fastening and Ecru leather flap. The back is also Ecru leather and it has a zippered top closure. Inside it’s lined in nude leather and features an inner pouch pocket and hardware designer stamp. $2,195

Today’s handbag of the day was inspired by an Easter egg hunt — if you find a golden egg on the MZ Wallace website you win a free bag. In the course my egg-hunting I came upon the Boa Zoe bag. The beautiful abstract print is actually a boa design but to me it evokes more of a ‘dappled shade’ feeling, like what happens under a tree on a city sidewalk in the heat of summer. Plus it has a little safari energy going on, and enough pockets and carrying options to make a girl dizzy. Other features include Italian leather trim, a matching detachable market purse, protective leather feet, and a woven periwinkle logo lining. $365

Featuring a long list of colors, textures, and patterns it’s amazing how well it all comes together in the finished product. It starts on the fold-over flap top in animal-print calf hair, then moves down to blocks of green and beige python, a large pink suede tab, and finishes with orange suede tasseled pull tabs at sides and a green leather shoulder strap. It has a detachable pouch on front, a pocket on the back, and the interior is divided into two separate zippered compartments. Florals don’t come much bolder than this layer-upon-layer print from Jil Sander. The Market Floral-Print Silk-Twill Bag is surprisingly versatile thanks its rainbow of colors to draw from and simple, all-one-piece block shaping. The body and top handles are luxe silk-twill but the detachable (convertible?) shoulder strap is buckled pink leather. Plus there’s a little bit of midnight blue leather trim along the bottom and midnight blue stitching details. It’s unlined and has no pockets, so essentially it’s a tote. A gorgeous, happy one. $740

The color is the primary focus on this Maison Martin Margiela Satin Shoulder Bag.
