Cristiano Ronaldo is pictured receiving his World FIFA Player Of The Year trophy from Sir Alex Ferguson in Manchester, UK, reports Justjared.
"This is a prize that has always been an ambition of mine ever since I started playing football. But when I started at Sporting Lisbon six years ago I never imagined it would come so quickly," Ronaldo said.
The 23-year-old soccer player received 935 votes in a worldwide poll of national team captains and coaches, with the results announced by Brazil’s all-time great Pele.
"It is an overwhelming moment, a very special moment in my life. I would like to say to my mother and sister that the fireworks can be fired off now," Ronaldo added.
