The Foundation of Pop Artist Roy Lichtenstein, has collaborated with Italian fashion house Borbonese to release a line of limited edition handbags showcasing the late artist’s colorful work. Featured to the right is their Two Apples Tote. Traditonally, Borbonese has strayed away from such a colorful palette and has kept their luxurious line of handbags within more traditional colorways, but they has set aside their ususal classic aesthetic to bring you Lichtenstein in it’s wild and vibrantly colorful form.

Lichtenstein’s art and Borbonese’s craftsmanship are beautifully coupled to make for an attention grabbing 12 piece collection of totes and clutches. Each one holds such a unique look. These bags would be ideal for the Summer given their fun loving nature and liveliness, but perhaps the Fall could also use a little burst of vibrancy too.

I have nursed my faithful pair of tan sheepskin boots through three years of rain, visits to the snow and — since I live in southern California where we wear our boots for reasons of style over substance most days — blistering heat. And sadly, they are now of retirement age — long ago losing their shape, their sheen, their very high coolness factor sacrificed to the elements. And at the risk of sounding like someone who casts aside an old friend in favor of the new kid on the block, I am doing precisely that: UGGs, begone. Make room for my new EMUs, which have already passed the — get this — water test.

A sheepskin boot, warm and cozy on the inside and covered with the smoothest suede-like leather on God’s green Earth — and they are waterproof?? OK, water-resistant, but the company has submerged them in water and out they came looking good as new, which makes them waterproof in my book. Bring on the El Ninos. Mammoth Mountain ski area, here we come. The leather didn’t dry or crack. The color deepened, but in a weathery happy way. The shape kept. I’m sold.

Last month we told you about Take Ivy, the coveted style tome showcasing snapshots of classic Ivy League style from the 1960s being re-issued for the first time ever in the U.S. Now style maven Jack Spade is offering the iconic volume equipped with a K-Swiss x Jack Spade collaboration package featuring an old-school sweatshirt with preppy elbow patches and a retro leather belt for $245. The sweatshirt is a heavy gauge crewneck - just like the retro gym sweatshirts from the ’60s. For a preppy flair, the designers silk screened orange patches on to the elbows; on one of the patches is the K-Swiss 1966 shield and “Jack Spade/Warren Street/New York” to note the brands’ heritage and the collaboration. The belt was designed to complete the retro look and is modeled after a custom bridle leather book strap, artfully cinched around the book.

The case of the missing masterpiece more closely resembles a spoof of a whodunit, such as Murder by Death, than real life.

According to a lawsuit filed on August 30 by Kristin Trudgeon, a painting she co-owned, “Portrait of a Girl” by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot worth an estimated $1.35 million, was entrusted to James Carl Haggerty and never returned after he showed it to a prospective buyer.

According to court documents, the prospective buyer, Offer Waterman, and Haggerty, met at the office belonging to the painting’s co-owner, Tom Doyle, in order to inspect the painting. Doyle later met Haggerty at Rue 57, a restaurant on the upper east side of Manhattan where Doyle handed the painting over to Haggerty. Doyle instructed Haggerty to take the painting to the Mark Hotel where the prospective buyer further inspected the painting with a black light. While Haggerty and the prospective buyer met at the hotel bar, the painting was left at the hotel’s front desk. Security cameras at the hotel recorded Haggerty leaving the bar, collecting the painting from the front desk, and exiting the Mark Hotel at 12:50 a.m.

There’s little we don’t love about cult-fave makeup line Le Métier de Beauté, but their latest collaboration, inspired by Marchesa’s Fall 2010 RTW line, takes the cake. Packaged in a sleek credit card-esque case, the gem of the collection is a compact perfect for a night on the town - pressed powder, concealer, lip gloss in a cherry shine (La Cerise Noir), a cream blush in a peachy pink (La Peche) and a blue-black shadow (Le Minuit). The design of the compact - a sleek mercurial silver hue - was even inspired by Sandra Bullock’s Marchesa dress for the 82nd Academy Awards. The collection also features highlighting and concealing pens, double-ended lip gloss and another mini compact.

“Each season,” explained Georgina Chapman, co-founder and designer of Marchesa, “Keren and I introduce a new collection, but with the classic and consistent signature that is Marchesa - we transport our customers back to a time when luxury fashion meant the best in tailoring, design, fabric, etc. When it came to launching a cosmetics collection, we wanted to do the same and we found immediately that Le Métier de Beauté shared these same core values.”
