Patricia Kluge has thrown her heart, soul and no small amount of money into her Virginia wine business but that may not have been enough. C-Ville.com is reporting that Kluge Winery and Vineyard, the business that she and her husband Bill Moses opened in 1999, is in the hands of its lenders. Last month, Trevor Gibson, who had been the company’s chief financial officer for five years, left Kluge Winery. Details of what happened aren’t exactly clear but C-Ville.com has a statement from Bill Moses that says that the bankers have taken the first steps toward “dismantling the winery as an operating business as well as an auction of the property.”
Kluge and Moses have Albemarle House, their 45-room English style manor, on the market for $48 million and earlier this year they sold off the contents at Sotheby’s in a two-day buying bonanza that brought in $15.2 million. A sale of her jewelry brought in around $5 million.
TheHook.com says that a foreclosure notice list a total debt of $34,785,000. The assets of the Kluge Estate Winery and Vineyards include 907 acres in southern Albemarle County, 164 of which are vineyards. The sale would also include the Farm Shop and tasting room, as well as offices, production buildings, six employee houses, and a 34,000-square-foot former carriage museum. A sale scheduled for December 8 is set to take place at the vineyard office building on Grand Cru Drive in the southeastern part of the county while a second auction on December 11 in Madison would sell off 15,000 cases of Kluge Estate wine.
TheHook.com is also reporting that the lender Farm Credit filed a lawsuit against Kluge and Moses October 29 in Albemarle Circuit Court. According to that article, the couple also faced foreclosure on “Glen Love” a luxury spec house they developed at Vineyard Estates that was our estate of the day back in 2008 when it was listed at $6.8 million.
Kluge and Moses are still in negotiations with the lenders and may yet be able to save the winery before the auction.

There are three of them, one has an antique gas station and another has an old-fashioned diner. The listing is here.

The grounds have a swimming pool with spa, an outdoor kitchen and a built-in barbecue.

Green is really in this year. Good for military inspired watches, as well as those that wish to signal a season of fresh birth for the watch industry (something that timepiece makers need). This charming fellow is the green khaki model in the new Marvin Malton 160 Cushion watch collection. The well-designed new collection has a cushion shaped case that is 42mm wide in steel. Mostly retro-sporty in design, there are a number of dials and versions available. The Malton 160 Cushion Khaki offers up the piece with a khaki green textured dial and perforated leather strap.
Unless you really can’t see yourself wearing green, this is a very handsome timepiece that I think will appeal to both men and women (even if the size is too large for many women’s wrists). A nice standout piece from an already highly competent collection. Inside is a Swiss Sellita SW200 automatic movement and price is gonna be in the $1,000 - $1,500 range.

Somewhere between clothing and accessories sits the unique line of Spratters & Jayne’s scarves. This season’s line is hand-made by a women’s co-op of crocheters outside of Lima and Peru where the ultra-soft, high-grade Merino/Highland Wool is produced. Creator Rachel Warner travels to Peru every year to ensure a fair work environment and promote green production.
This year’s line includes the popular two-button cowl scarf in addition to three new styles: the Kerchief Bib, Chain Cowl and the Infinity Chain Scarf. The Infinity Chain, shown at right, is a striking take on the popular infinity scarf, only this one is composed of rope-like loops that can be worn several different ways. The scarves are available in a variety of colors including black, charcoal, chocolate, lapis blue and muted lavender. The Spratters and Jayne collection is housed at the International Playground Showroom and are also currently available at Henri Bendel, Opening Ceremony and around the world.

With their immaculate attention to detail, unsurpassed presence and monstrously powerful engines, a fair few of us here at Luxist would need little excuse to sign on the dotted line for a new Bentley if given the opportunity. And by opportunity, of course, we mean the financial wherewithal that doesn’t typically come with a career as a freelance writer. But for those who have the means, Bentley USA has teamed up with custom clothiers Astor & Black to sweeten the deal.
The fashionably informed may recognize the name Astor & Black for outfitting Esquire’s “best dressed real man” Angel Ramos. The company provides bespoke suits starting at accessible prices but reaching prominently up-market with higher-end fabrics and options. It’s from that range that Astor is providing every buyer of any new Bentley in the United States or Canada with a custom suit, shirt and handmade tie…each item made to measure according to the customer’s specifications, not unlike the luxury automobiles they’ll accompany.
Did we need another reason to want a Bentley, or another way to express our style when pulling up the driveway in one? No, but it certainly couldn’t hurt.

The last time we heard about the Little Jennie Ranch in Bondurant, Wyoming it was back in 2005 when the home, then on the Forbes list of Most Expensive Homes sold for an undisclosed sum. Back then the ranch was listed at $55 million. Now the working cattle ranch is back on the market. The 3,016 acre historic ranch is one of Wyoming’s most pristine and secluded private ranches. The ranch is a short drive south of Jackson Hole in the foothills of the snow-capped Gros Ventre Mountain Range and is surrounded by Teton National Forest and three mountain ranges. The ranch has miles of trout fishing streams and rolling meadows with Aspen and Fir. The Little Jennie has been a cattle operation since the 1950s. The property has a two-story log residence of 4000 square feet built by Jack Kranenberg at the heart of the ranch headquarters with eleven additional cabins scattered throughout the ranch. The property is now listed at $69.5 million.

Munk Bogballe debuted its new Classic Bespoke collection of laptops at the recent Millionaire Fair in Moscow. Assembled in Denmark these luxury computers aren’t as flashy or dolled up as some creations we’ve seen but make a quieter, more sophisticated statement. Each laptop is made to order and options include aluminum (natural or black) or 18 carat gold for the metal surfaces, calf or ostrich leather in a variety of colors for the bottom and accent areas (other exotic leathers may also be available), and your choice of either a row of pave diamonds or single precious ruby, sapphire, or diamond gem to add the final finishing touch. The interior specs aren’t anything amazing but should be sufficient to keep the average user happy. Starting at €5,200 ($7,200) and up.

The classic beige trench coat is completely revamped with the magical touch of fashion design star Thakoon. His Draped Collar Coat ($1090) takes the essence of a traditional trench coat and infuses it with a modern and unique twist that is very appealing.
Made from a mix of virgin wool, mohair, alpaca and a hint of nylon, the Draped Collar Coat boasts a dramatic and oversized relaxed collar (which exposes reversed twill), a curved hem that drops in the back, and crochet lace trim at the collar, opening, sleeves, hem and along the belt.
Contrasting colors of grey and white make for a stand out of a coat that still exudes a timeless elegance. I especially liked the hints of reverse twill scattered throughout the coat.
While you won’t be able to wear Thakoon’s coat on rainy days like the typical trench coat, it will provide some warmth and serve well as a chic and effortless accent to your outfit.

A total of eight units are to be sold “Absolute,” regardless of price.
The Gate Condominium is a luxury development in northern New Jersey with units that were originally priced to $579,000. I recently took a class in rug appraisal and it was the placement of large, obviously antique rugs over expansive wooden floors that attracted me to today’s estate in St. Louis, Missouri. With nearly 13,000 square feet of total space, that’s a lot of rugs. The home gets its inspiration from late 17th century English domestic architecture. The manor style home is on a nearly two acre lot that includes tennis courts, a swimming pool and a carriage house with space for four vehicles and guest or staff quarters.
The main home has an impressive 47 ft long entry hall that extends fully through the house from the front to rear. The home is full of dark wood paneling and has a large carved staircase. Other period details include ornate plasterwork, leaded windows, and front and rear entry stonework. The home has a library, living room, dining room, office butler’s pantry and kitchen as well as a side entry gallery. The second and third floors feature bedrooms and dressing rooms and the third floor has a large playroom. This home is listed at $2.35 million.

Looking more like a sweater than a scarf, Indian Cloth’s Hooded Scarf ($620) will certainly keep you warm. It features a heavy double knit of baby alpaca, a hood, and the length provides an extra layer of warmth underneath a long sweater coat or winter jacket. Although the front is quite long, the back hits right above your waist, which seem like a disadvantage, but I suppose it would be then be considered a hooded sweater at that point.
Given its length, button front and double front pockets, you could wear it as a sweater. Or if you prefer, the Hooded Scarf could be left unbuttoned and wrapped around your neck. Seen here in charcoal, it’s also available in army and orche
